A veteran's artwork, depicting veterans, giving back to veterans

On 24th August 2019, I attended the Soldier On Charity Ball at the National Arboretum in Canberra, where I had donated my 'Mortar Fire Mission' artwork to the silent auction.

I am pleased to announce my artwork was successfully snapped up in a bidding war and raised much needed funds for Soldier On.

This piece is the artwork that keeps on giving for veterans' causes!

It was also featured in ANVAM's International Veterans' Art Exhibition at Sydney's Invictus Games in 2018 and as part of the Territory Tribute in Darwin (see previous blog posts or #IVAE18 or at @ANVAM310 ).

The poem extract on the artwork is derived from a poem called “Fire Mission” published in 2RAR’s “The ANZAC Battalion 1970-71” book provided to members of the Battalion, including members of the New Zealand companies attached to 2RAR in Vietnam. See below for the whole poem.

Also, see the auction catalogue entry below for more detail about this piece and its meaning.
