Apparently I'm an Art teacher now!

Updated: Feb 25, 2023

So on Tuesday 4th October 2022, I travelled to Brisbane to teach an art class to the military spouses of attendees of the Chief of Army's Land Forces forum, on behalf of the ADFCAA.

LTCOL Maher also gave a presentation about his research into Ballet for Veterans' wellbeing and two other members ran a Pilates/barre/relaxation class for the ladies.

A lovely day all round, however, it was a shame my art class was rushed and we ran out of time to finish our drawings.

My Australiana art class consisted of teaching the group how to make a Eucalyptus wash for their boards, drawing native leaves as a background using the shadow drawing technique, and finally drawing either a Magpie or Superb Fairy Wren on top using pen & ink and watercolour pencils.

I also presented some interesting facts about each of the flora and fauna species we were referencing, as well as the work done by Sally Blake who studied the Eucalypts at The Australian National Botanical Garden for their dyes between June - November 2016 (see here for more info: https://sallyblake.com/eucalyptus-dyes-1 ).
